10KC User Integration

In 2023, 10KC's 5x-ed user growth led to a demand for enhanced profile data integration tools

From 2021–2023, the HR industry has witnessed significant events such as The Great Resignation, and mass layoffs. Enterprises look for HR tech solutions to retain and attract talent to their organizations and drive employee engagement.

10KC is a SaaS platform that empowers HR managers to build and deploy mentorship programs to thousands of employees to get mentorship, training, and ultimately achieve their career goals.

As our user base grew 5x in 2023, 10KC needed enhanced user integration to onboard users at scale. I led design for 10KC's user integration to streamline and automate user management.

Directors of Talents, CHROs, and HR managers use 10KC to design, and build, and deploy their programs. They need a quick way to import their user database into 10KC, and deliver curated experiences based on user data.

Managing 10KC users is tedious and time-consuming

Our clients send CSVs of employees data to us to maintain the 10KC user database. 10KC relies on this to recommend relevant experiences to our users.

The current integration process takes ~8 hours to complete. Customer Success and Engineering are extremely overwhelmed managing users for 120+ customers.

Define the vision for Integration

Together with my PM, we established core steps for user integration.

This helped us identify JTBDs for each step of the integration journey, and matrixes of types of exploration.

Experiment with automation vs user control

Based on the roadmap, I explored designs for our 3 main steps of the user journey: importing data -> map data -> approve user updates.

I also explored using AI to automate data-mapping for users, finding a balance between full automation vs. minimal user control of the system.

Streamlined file import, reducing fragmentation

Previously, clients sent files via email, Google Drive, etc. Managing files for 120+ clients was unnecessarily messy, and led to missing files, missed deadlines, and unhappy conversations with clients. Left unsolved, user profiles are missed which impact end-users negatively. Worst case scenario? Data leaks and security breaches.

I designed the new file import feature to streamline file transferring. Clients can import files directly and securely into 10KC. No more scattered working files!

Automate data-mapping to reduce manual search and selection

Users had to manually comb through 100+ categories to map every single column to a corresponding 10KC category. This took 5+ hours, and was often done on spreadsheets.

I designed a recommendation system to suggest data fields for mapping. Users were empowered to review and approve mappings based on recommendations, without having to manually search and select each field.

Review and approve user profiles with clarity and confidence

Clients and Customer Success can directly import files and conduct mapping directly in the 10KC platform. No more scattered working files, and messy spreadsheets.
